The new version of the software, Nik Collection 2 comes with over 40 brand new presets and support for high-resolution monitors.
The tool can create symmetrical and asymmetrical effects, plus aperture settings can also be changed to simulate a convincing bokeh effect.Today DxO released its first major version of its Nik Collection suite that it acquired from Google last year.
This new plugin offers two blur gradients and users can choose where they are placed and set the intensity of the blur. Previously, creating images with a shallow depth of field involved using costly tilt-shift lenses or else using complicated blurring gradients in Photoshop. Perspective Efex also has a creative side that can be used to simulate images with a shallow depth-of-field, DxO calls this the Miniature Effect. However, it’s not all about straight lines.
Perspective Efex can also automatically correct fish-eye distortion as well as straightening up crooked horizons and skewed lines in architectural and landscape photos. DxO is touting it as the perfect tool for correcting group wedding photos and family photos taken with wide lenses. DxO says claims it’s the only plugin to offer a feature that can automatically re-establish the natural shape of subjects positioned at the edges of a wide-angle photo. The new plugin can automatically correct unsightly leading lines – no matter how complex – which should prove useful for urban and architectural photography. It’s ideal for making geometric corrections and combines a number of tools that can remove defects as well as adding effects to a photo. Perspective Efex is a new plugin that’s now included with Nik Collection 3. It can instantly recreate a shallow depth of field as well as a convincing bokeh effect. The Miniature Effect is new to Nik Collection 3.0 By Dxo and is part of the Perspective Efex plugin. DxO claims that Nik Collection 3 is the first suite of creative photo plugins to include a non-destructive workflow for Adobe Lightroom Classic. The technology is based on the TIFF MULTIPAGE file format, which combines the input image, the saved Nik Collection 3 editing parameters, and the output file, all in a single image file.
Finally, the Silver Efex Pro and HDR Efex Pro plugins now have direct access to a user’s favorite presets, a handy feature that was only previously available with Nik Color Efex Pro.įor users of Adobe Lightroom Classic, Nik Collection 3 now has a workflow that enables photographers to freely edit image files within the same plugin.
The new “Quick Edit” option enables users to edit images by applying the last action used without ever needing to launch the plugin’s interface. This feature sounds as if it might be really useful when editing large batches from a single photoshoot that requires the same set of edits over multiple images. The new “Last Edit” feature can apply the last preset that was used, with just a single click. The Nik Selective Tool has been expanded to include fast retouching options.
Using the TIFF Multipage format, the software can enable non-destructive editing. The new Nik Collection 3.0 By DxO now features non-destructive editing for users of Adobe Lightroom. Finally, a new Message Centre enables users to stay abreast of upcoming features and developments as well as being a portal for accessing online resources to help users get more out of the Nik plugins. Also new to this release is a geometric correction plugin called Perspective Efex. Nik Collection 3 now also includes a new non-destructive workflow, a unique feature that is ideal for Adobe Lightroom Classic as it enables them to return to edits and alter settings without destroying any original edits made in Lightroom Classic. This latest version features a brand-new Nik Selective Tool, a handy launcher for the suite's range of plugins featuring new quick edit tools. Each new subsequent release has brought about a range of improvements and innovations, and this version is no exception.
Nik Collection 3.0 is a major upgrade to the suite of plugins and works with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, and DxO PhotoLab. DxO has now announced that Nik Collection 3.0 has finished its development and testing phase and goes on sale from today.
